Specification of Stainless Steel Coil 316L: 316L stainless steel coil suppliers. Compared to chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels, type 316L stainless steel offers higher creep, stress to rupture and tensile strength at elevated temperatures. ASTM A240 Stainless Steel Coil 316L.Type 316L contents lower carbon than type 316 with maximum of 0.03%. It is immune from sensitization, therefore, it is very frequently used in heavy gauge welded components, or application required high corrosion resistance. The austenitic structure also gives these grades excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures. Type 316L is also preferred over type 316 for the welded condition since low carbon levels enhance resistance to intergranular corrosion.
